Design Plus Gallery presents a Vintage French “Vins Camp Romain” Poster. This striking art deco style poster was printed Circa 1930 as an advertisement for Vins Camp Romain. Vins Camp Romain, which translates to ‘Camp Roman Wine’, was produced in Laudun, France which is in the Cote du Rhone region. The name Camp Romain references the history of the location as hundreds of years earlier, Laudun was home to a Roman settlement, rumored to be headed by Caesar himself. It is an interesting use of names as the French wine producers generally avoid references to anything Italian. The image shows three Romanesque soldiers hoisting bottles of red, rose, and white high in the air as if to signify that all their wines were of the highest quality. While Laudun is located in wine country, it was better known for its whites rather than reds. Custom framed in a black and gold finish frame.

The poster was designed by a French artist, Claude Gadoud, born in 1905. He worked as a graphic designer, poster artist, and illustrator. It was printed by Affiches-Camis in Paris, France. The artist died in 1991.
