Design Plus Gallery presents a pair of Mid-20th century Teiza lounge chairs by Tendo Mokko . Designed by Junzo Sakaura (1901-1969), A sculptural lounge chair, circa 1960s. His “Model 5016” is a low slung design executed in walnut plywood. Upholstered back and seat in a Grey fabric. Visible wear and distressing on wood frame and minor on fabric. Manufactured Brand Label is located on lower back of the chair. Originally purchased in Japan. Seat Height: 11 inches.
About Junzo Sakaura: Sakaura was a Japanese architect and former present of the Architectural Association of Japan. After Graduation from the university, he worked in Le Corbusiers Atelier in Paris. He rose to the position go Studio Chef during his seven-year stay in the studio. He formed his own practice on his return to Japan, becoming an important tenet of the modernist movement.
