“Metal work has a long history and has served humanity in many useful and beautiful forms. A close look at the past inspires the present. Modern metal smiths are just part of the continuum that began thousands of years ago. I’ve been working with metals most of my life and will continue to enjoy exploring the possibilities.
I prefer steel because of its strength and plasticity as well as its organic nature. I’ve been fortunate to study with masters, and I’ve had design and industrial experience which allow me to create sculptures such as the recently installed “Litharacnium” in downtown Boise and the sculptures titled Altered View, Hole Fragment and Star Chart shown at Enso Gallery this spring.”- Dennis Proksa
