Hand thrown and ribbed, the green glazed earthenware Tampayan Martaban jar is a lovely container for plants, fountain or champagne. The name refers to an entry port in South Burma, an active base for trade with China, Southeast Asia, and Africa. This vintage jar may have once been used to store oils, rice, butter, pickles, wine, water, and even holy water and opium. Lovely rustic condition; consistent with age and use.
