A Central African population living in Chad and Cameroon, the Massa people reside mainly on the banks of the Logone tributary that separates the two countries. Handwoven of natural grasses, the large concave shield creates a sculptural conversation piece wherever it is displayed using the supportive hanging mount. Light evidence of wear; consistent with age and use.
