From the Artist:
The series originated as a commissioned request by a leading European chef for a book cover – showcasing 50 European cuisines and their 50 American interpretations! The book never made it to print, yet the1st image created for the book was a big hit and quickly fell into a private collection while I was teaching @ CMU. The image represented an abstract version of the United States – colorful – like a rich composition of stew.

“I to was stimulated by the work so I continued without a plan” to explore the composition. There after works from the series attracted the attention of Mosby – a subsidiary of Times Warner & by Norman Lear with the People for the American Way. Both major commissions and acquisitions forced me to refine my vision for the series. – Steve Jay Carter
