“Square Roots describe themselves as, “the union of two people, inspired by handmade, sustainable, solid wood furniture.” British-born Justin Wheatcroft and Edward Stoddart founded the brand in Vietnam in 2007, where they continue to work with skilled local artisans and industry. Inspired by mid-century designers such as Hans Wegner and George Nakashima, the duo produce chairs, tables, consoles and bedroom sets that highlight the materiality of the wood. Leaving intact the ‘live-edge’, which makes use of the natural shape of the tree, the brand produces pieces that emphasize the timber’s natural qualities. After extensive research, Square Roots selected hard-wearing solid French Oak sourced from the Burgundy region as their timber of choice.”
