About Artist:
“Soo-Jai Lee, Born in Seoul in 1933, she formed her vision and studied calligraphy with his grandmother when she was young. With classical art training, Soojai Lee had the desire of renovation after graduating from the EWHA Women University. In 1958, she was granted with a scholarship to travel and admit to the University of Colorado in the United States where she studied art under the mentorship of abstract painter Carl Morris. After returning back to Seoul, she taught in the department of Western painting at the University. In 1969 she exhibited at the Sao Paulo Biennial. Soojai Lee synthesizes abstraction and Korean landscape art, which the fluidity and transparency of colors coordinate perfectly with the lightness of the gesture.”
