Designed in 2006 by Swedish design duo Front, this iconic sculptural floor lamp combines a life-size horse form with an oversized lampshade, creating one of Moooi’s most recognizable statement designs. The horse body is formed from black polyester with modeled anatomical details throughout the head, mane, body, legs, and tail. Rising from the horse’s head is the lamp fitting and an oversized black drum shade with a contrasting light interior. The rear of the sculpture bears the molded “moooi design by Front” marking, confirming its manufacturer and designer. The Horse Lamp reflects Front’s imaginative approach to functional objects, transforming the traditional floor lamp into a large-scale sculptural composition. Its dramatic scale, monochromatic presentation, and realistic equestrian form give the design a distinctive presence associated with Moooi’s unconventional contemporary collection.
