Ruth E. Allan Porcelain Saggar Vessels, a Collection of Five

Design Plus Gallery presents Collection of five porcelain vessels by ceramists Ruth Allan. The artist has created varied porcelain clay vessels that are wheel thrown, hand polished and saggar fired. Unlike raku, the subtle yet striking color effects are ‘conjured’ onto the pots during the firing by the placement of minerals and combustibles on or near their surfaces. The unique technique results in austere black, gray and white patterns without the use of stains or glazes, these are finished with hand carved details. Light evidence of surface wear; condition consistent with age and use.
