About Designer:
“Maria Yee began her career handcrafting reproductions from the Ming Dynasty. Passionate about traditional furniture making after witnessing the destruction of Chinas Historic Treasures. Born in China, Maria Yee was 15 when her parents were imprisoned during the Cultural Revolution. She originally studied to become a mechanical engineer, but grew passionate about traditional furniture making instead. She eventually moved to the United States, where she founded her namesake design studio in 1988 in Scotts Valley, California. For Maria, every element matters: responsibly grown hardwoods, eco-conscious water-based finishes, luxurious leathers, and hand forged metal pulls.”- Maria Yee
