Design Plus Gallery presents a Pair of Raymond K. Sobota for Century Furniture Chin Hua Nightstands. Production for this iconic Hollywood Regency + Chinoiserie inspired collection began in the late 70’s. A spectacular combination of material is on display while offering storage in the white ash burlwood, ebonized maple, and oiled brass hardware. This rare vintage set includes a generous lower cabinet with shallow drawer on top. Minor wear through out, set is in good condition. Frame is solid along with the dovetail construction on the drawers and cabinets.
Raymond Karl Sobota is an award winning American designer who apprenticed under his uncle Karl Schmidt in Grand Rapids Michigan for Berkey and Gay Furniture. Raymond later went on to work for Bookcase and Chair Co, The Mt. Airy Furniture Co, Hekman Furniture and finally for Century for whom he designer from 1952 to 1995. Raymond designer over 150 collections for Century Furniture.
