The painting is one of Rubens most sought after and the engraving is done by one of the most masterful of the era. Rubins was one of the most influential painters of his day, working for many church authorities and royal patrons and known for his dramatic and emotional compositions. Bolswert was employed as an engraver in Rubens’ workshop. Engravings by Bolster in good condition are eagerly sought by connoisseurs of the period and of Rubens. Mounted and sheathed in now torn plastic, in need of proper matte and framing.
