Mid 20th Century Tansu Cabinet + Iron Fittings
Design Plus Gallery presents a Mid 20th Century Tansu Cabinet With Iron Fittings. Visible wear on the pine wood through out due to age. Clay or chalk powder was rubbed into the soft wood surface for a dry finish as opposed to a lacquer. Locking mechanisms in the hardware does not operate but drawers do open and close. Blackened iron hardware contrasts the light wood beautifully. Mochiokuri, which are the handles on the sides signify this cabinet was once a part of a larger pair and used for easy transporting. Three large drawers make up the top of the unit and are anchored by two smaller drawers on the bottom left and three tiny drawers on the right.
