Design Plus Gallery presents Lanterns, a Color Photograph by Lisa Kristine. Lanterns was developed in 2006 and taken in Yangshuo, China. The subject is of two fisherman who have birds on leashes with them on their bamboo rafts called cormorant fishing. Cormorant fishing is an ancient, traditional practice where fishermen train large aquatic birds to dive into rivers and catch fish for them. Dating back over a thousand years, this symbiotic fishing method relies on a snare tied around the bird’s throat, which allows it to swallow small fish but forces it to return larger catches to the boat. The background of the mountains of the river are drowned in fog. The photograph is set with in a wide white matte and encased in black frame. It is in good condition for its usage.
