Design Plus Gallery presents an Antique Georgian Oak and Mahogany Longcase Clock by James Cranshaw of Rotherham. The case is made from the finest English oak and crossbanded with mahogany, it has reeded canted corners either side of the trunk door also with reeded pillars either side of the hood door with brass capitals and swan-neck pediment above. The dial is unusual in being round, it is beautifully decorated to a very high standard with Roman numerals and finely cut hands, signed Crawshaw, Rotherham. The movement is of thirty hour duration supported between two iron plates, striking the hours on a large bell. The short hand needs to be repaired as it is a little loose. Locking cabinet key is original. In good Antique condition, visible distress from usage. Currently not functional.
