Design Plus Gallery presents an Antique Engraved Portrait of Marie de Hainaut, wife of Louis I, Duke of Bourbon and grandson of Saint Louis. The composition depicts the noblewoman in ceremonial dress, wearing a jeweled crown, ermine-trimmed robes, and an ornamented necklace. The lower margin is inscribed “Lanté delt.” and “Gatine sculp.”, identifying the original artist and engraver, along with the printed title “Marie de Hainaut, Femme de Louis I, Duc de Bourbon, Petit Fils de Saint Louis.” The engraving is presented beneath a charcoal-toned mat in an ornate gilt and red-accented wood frame with carved repeating details. Age-related toning is visible to the paper, while the frame displays areas of surface wear and small losses consistent with age. The frame does not come with glass. It is in fair condition with visible and minimal wear from usage.
