Fuji Seen from the River Banyu” is an iconic 1931 shin-hanga woodblock print by the celebrated Japanese artist Kawase Hasui. It features a tranquil, atmospheric scene with a lone boatman navigating the river, while the majestic peak of the mountain rests in the clouds against a clear sky. Kawase was a Japanese artist who was one of 20th century Japan’s most important and prolific printmakers. He was a prominent designer of the shin-hanga movement, whose artists depicted traditional subjects with a style influenced by yoga. The piece is encased in a rounded edge black frame with two layers of linen Matte; thick and blue with a slim inner line of tan. The piece is dated in the publishing seal on the lower left side. It is in good overall condition for its usage.
