Design Plus Gallery presents a Merchant Chest, of Tansu, an Antique from Japan. This is a stunning two piece set that was made in the Osaka region. Merchant’s Chests are made up of multiple drawers, compartments, and secret drawers. They used these chests in their shop fronts. The chest were in pride of place exhibiting the owner’s prosperity. They were made with beautiful wood scubas a Japanese cedar as we believe these are. The hardware is hand beaten iron metal work. Storage is not a nightmare anymore with something so practical, malleable, and adjusting for in home. It is in good condition for its antique age.
