This percussion instrument originates from Southeast Asia and is widely used in the Southeast and East Asian musical traditions. the round bronze gong is bowl-shaped and is struck with the accompanying mallet. It has a deep, voluminous sound and their character can evolve over time with playing and age. The mallet seems to have a leather wrapped head. Visible wear is naturally occurring and both items are in good working order.
