Design Plus Gallery presents a Pair of Baroque Grid Ottomans/Stools from James Shaw. A vivid pair of one-of-a-kind ottomans/stools, equal parts sculpture and seat. Built from an exuberant palette of waste plastics, their interlaced surfaces form an expressive grid that catches light and shadow, turning everyday material into a standout centerpiece. Alluding to the flourish and drama of the baroque, each stool is hand-formed from recycled HDPE using an extrusion gun engineered by Shaw himself. The result is a textured, highly tactile silhouette and unexpected, playful, and unmistakably unique, where no two pieces are ever the same. Both functional and collectible, this pair works as stools, ottomans, or sculptural side table bases. They embody a compelling sustainability story, transforming a common, problematic waste into objects of lasting beauty, interest, and value. In good condition, visible and minimal wear from usage. Made in the London.
About the Brand :
“James Shaw is a designer and a maker exploring the material landscape in a hands on way. His work aims to interrogate the material, systemic and formal approaches to the creation of objects. Frequently his work considers the resources around us challenging the notion of ‘waste’ to create new beautiful materials. James has exhibited internationally and past awards include being nominated for the Design Museum Designs of the Year Award and winning the Arc Chair Design Award. His work is in the permanent collections of MoMA, The V&A, The Montreal Museum of Art, The Design Museum Ghent and The Museum of London among others”.
