Design Plus Gallery presents an original abstract in a dynamic palette titled “Taxi” by Isabel Wyatt. Mixed Media on canvas.
This series of paintings reflect Isabel’s love of all things Mid-Century Modern. Inspired by the architecture of the case study houses in Los Angeles from the late 40’s through 60’s, Philip Johnson’s Glass House and Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House, she has restored two A. Quincy Jones houses, one an Eichler in Lucas Valley. She has been influenced by the painters of the New York School, particularly the work of the second generation Abstract Expressionists, Cy Twombly and Joan Mitchell.
Raised in the suburbs of New York City, Isabel Wyatt came to California to attend Mills College where she graduated with a BA in Studio Art. Later she received a BFA with Distinction in Interior Architecture from California College of the Arts.
