Boy with Flute (sometimes referenced alongside her mid-century portrait works) is an artwork attributed to the mid-century American artist Helen Rayburn Caswell. She was born in Long Beach, California and actively worked out of her art studio located in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Her paintings were known for their warm, sentimental, impressionistic style focusing heavily on children, domestic life, and animals. She was also a prominent children’s book author and illustrator. The artwork is signed on the lower right side and encased in a champagne metallic wood frame with linen matte. It is in good condition for its vintage age.
