Design Plus Gallery presents the Sling Sofa from the 1970’s by Knoll. Introduced in 1971, this industrial-style mid-century classic was uniquely inspired by sailboat engineering. The design team lead by Bruce Hannah and Andrew Morrison replicated the mechanics of a sailboat mast, allowing the fabric cushions to slot cleanly into channels along the metal frame. Suspends the seat and back tight to the profile, creating a comfortable, minimalist silhouette without bulky traditional couch frames. The frame is steel with a white coat, and the woven upholstery is the brands original Homespun Champagne fabric that shows some faint staining on the seat cushion. Overall, in good condition with a professional cleaning or reupholstery recommended. Made in the USA.
