From Artist:
“Just a little info on and about yours truly. I think I started my journey as an artist when I was about 6. I used to draw with pencils, crayons, play with soft clay and do lots of scribbling; you know, like all kids do, I just never stopped. Then at 16 years old I started to paint. A neighbor spotted me painting and introduced himself. He was the first real artist I met. He handed me a book on Michelangelo, pointed out things for me to draw from it and asked to show him the finished results. After a week, I took my sketches to him. He looked at my pencil drawings, asked my mother if he could take me to the school he was just about to graduate from, she said yes!. The school was and still is the world renown “Art Center Collage of Design” in Pasadena California.
From my first day of attending Art Center to my last, it has had a profound affect on me that I carry with me to this day. The school was off of 3rd st in Los Angeles since 1939. The top Ad-Men, Photographers came out of that school. Ansel Adams started the photography department, Illustrators like Bob Peck was one of the greats just to name a few, I sat at his disk in school. Then in the seventies I to became an Ad-Man. After years of that world I stopped and stepped into the world of fine art and became a studio artist.” – Gerald Schwartz
