Eero Saarinen Style Tulip Armchairs, a Pair

Design Plus Gallery presents a Pair of Saarinen Tulip Style Armchairs. Originally designed by Eero Saarinen in 1956. Architect Eero Saarinen was a genius at creating expressive sculptural forms. From his TWA Terminal (now the TWA Hotel) at New York’s JFK Airport to the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, there’s a magic in everything he created. The Saarinen Tulip Armchair began with his observation that “the underside of typical tables and chairs makes a confusing, unrestful world.” Featuring a swivel seat, this chair stands on a gracefully shaped cast-aluminum base inspired by a drop of high-viscosity liquid. The frame is in a black finish with removable seat cushions. The cushions have knoll underneath. Visible and minor wear form usage + age. Does not have name brand stamps on frame.
