Design Plus Gallery presents an Art Nouveau Sculpted Vase by Louis Ouvet (d.1920). Ouvet was a French sculptor known for Art Nouveau and Symbolist bronze, often chryselephantine, figures. He is associated with the 1900s artistic movement in France with this vessel being a pure representation of his capabilities. The vessel rests on a green marble base and has a body of oxidized iron. The overall appearance of this seems as if a a nude female figure is coming out of a gully, or dense packed watery land. She is brighter with her brass tone gleaming out of the green and true artistic presence is amassed. The dimensions qualities show with her the wading through water in a land of dragonflies, pussy willows, and folding palms The imagery is two sided with similar scenes and a different female nude form. The artists signature is on the base and the sculpture is in good condition.
