Design Plus Gallery presents a Early 20th Century Jichimu Official’s Hat Armchair. Back splat is carved with a Ruyi-carved panel. A Ruyi is a curved decorative object that serves as either a ceremonial scepter in Chinese Buddhism. Arms elegantly curve to emulate the crest of the chair and continues it’s curvature into the apron of the seat. Seat is woven with bamboo and is in tact. Visible wear on wood due to age. Frame is made of beech wood with a dark stain.
