“The Bauhaus master and textile designer Gunta Stölzl designed this design for a wall hanging in 1926 as a “design for a double weave”. In 2017 the design was launched by the English manufacturer Christopher Farr in close cooperation with the two Stölzl daughters Yael Aloni and Monika Stadler as a runner. In addressing the family, the carpet was reissued by Christopher Farr in 2020 as the 2nd edition (the first edition is out of print).

Gunta Stölzl brought modernity to the art of hand weaving and was later the first female master at the Bauhaus. As early as 1919 she began her studies at the Bauhaus in Weimar, where she sometimes works closely with Marcel Breuer, her textiles on the early Marcel Breuer furniture became famous. After completing her apprenticeship degree in 1922/23, she went to Krefeld for a short time and then set up a weaving mill for Johannes Itten in Zurich. In 1925 she returned to the Bauhaus and took over the weaving workshop from Georg Muche. In 1931 she left the Bauhaus and emigrated to Switzerland. Today Gunta Stölzl is considered to be an important innovator in textile design.”
