Design Plus Gallery presents the Barcelona Chair by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for Knoll Studio. The Barcelona chair achieves the serenity of line and the refinement of proportions and materials characteristic of Mies van der Rohe’s highly disciplined architecture. The chair is supported on each side by two chrome plated, flat steel bars. When viewed from the side the single curve of the bar formatting the chairs back and front legs crosses the S-curve of the bar forming the seat and back legs, making an intersection of the two. This shape derives from a long history of precedents, from ancient Egyptian folding stools to nineteenth-century neoclassical seating. The chair here is in a saddle brown leather with critical button tufting and same tone in its straps. Brand etching is found on the chrome plate. The chair is in good condition, visible and minimal wear for its usage. Made in USA.
