Design Plus Gallery presents a Pair of Circa 1980’s Bocci Side Tables from Brueton. Designed by Stanley Jay Friedman. Fine examples of Postmodern design, channeling the bold spirit of the Memphis movement. Named for the Italian bowling game where spheres are playfully tossed, the tables cleverly reinterpret the game’s essential form. Each table features a visually striking, inverted cone-shaped top, expertly upholstered in rich black leather that provides both tactile luxury and visual contrast. The top is supported by a whimsical cluster of three solid steel spheres, polished steel, serving as both the functional base and sculptural focal point. The trio of balls appears to defy balance, lending the tables a sense of kinetic energy and sophisticated playfulness characteristic of 1980s design innovation. Visible and minimal patina attests to the tables’ authentic vintage character. In good condition, visible and minimal wear from usage. This is a discontinued model. Made in USA.
