SOLD!
Design Plus Gallery presents a Limited Edition Print “From the Shoji Window” by Rhohei Tanaka, 1973. Signed and hand numbered 72/100, the peekaboo perspective is a private view of days gone by. A lovely thatched roof home of a neighbor is the subject of this fine etching. Matted and framed simply. Condition is good for age and use.
“Ryohei Tanaka stands out as a prominent modern Japanese printmaker. Across approximately four decades, he meticulously documented a vanishing realm through his photo-realistic etchings—the realm of Japan’s rapidly fading rural countryside. His choice of mediums is deeply rooted in his aspiration to meticulously depict the fading world of old rural Japan, particularly the distinctive thatched-roof farmhouses, in strikingly lifelike and detailed compositions.
