Circa 1968 Mary Lee Tilden Bronze Female Sculpture

Design Plus Gallery presents a Sculpture Signed at base with Mary Tilden in 1968. The sculpture is fine example from a renowned Californian with a rich history herself. Mary Lee Tilden (1926-2002) had a familial legacy and her name sake is lended to public places in Berkeley California, as the Tilden Park was from their legacy in Northern California. She was a woman of many talents and one such was through a formal education at the Ecole DesBeaux Arts, Switzerland as a recently divorced single mother of four in the early 1960’s. She moved back to the Bay Area in 1968 and must have completed this sculpture shortly thereafter. You see a slim woman with her hands gracefully clasped behind her back and with a her head bowed downward. There is some level of wear to the bronze if was cast in, but is overall in good condition for its decades old age.
