Circa 1920’s Antique African Carved Stool From Dogon People of Mali

$399

Design Plus Gallery presents an Antique African Stool from the 1920s. There are figural legs that represent ancestor spirits or “Nommo” wrapping around the body of the stool. These are symbols of spiritual wisdom and power authority reserved for leaders and priests. The carvings are symbolic with the base as they signify earth, a seat in heaven, and zig zags as the flow of water. Light surface wear; consistent with age and use.
