Design Plus Gallery presents a Pair of Louis XVI Gilt Consoles from the late 1700s, Restored by Renowned Craftsman C. Mariani. The pair of Louis XVI carved gilt wood consoles is a magnificent example of 18th-century craftsmanship. These half-round tables are adorned with opulent gold leaf. The matching consoles have gray marble tops with a beveled edge, showcasing the exquisite attention to detail given to every aspect of their design. The marble’s sleek surface contrasts beautifully with the ornate gilt wood aprons that adorn the fronts. These aprons are masterfully carved in a reticulated foliate pattern, creating an intricate display of foliage-like motifs. Hanging from this elaborate apron are delicately crafted floral swags, reminiscent of garlands in full bloom. These swags drape gracefully over the sides and anchor themselves to the legs. The legs take on an elegant tapering shape, featuring stop fluting for added texture and visual appeal. They create an impression of lightness and refinement while providing stability for these substantial pieces.
