Design Plus Gallery presents the Late 20th Century AJ Royal Floor Lamp by Arne Jacobsen for Santa & Cole. Arne Jacobsen was commissioned by Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) in 1956 to create a multi-purpose tower in the center of Copenhagen for an airline terminal, travel agency, and hotel. Among these commissioned creations was the AJ Royal Floor Lamp that was used throughout the SAS Royal Hotel in lobbies, lounges, and guest rooms. The lamp has a cast base that mirrors the elliptical shape of the lightweight white linen shade, elegantly attached to a sleek stainless steel shaft. A chain hangs from the bottom of the shade, allowing the two bulbs, one facing downward and one upward, to be operated independently or together, offering versatile lighting options. In good condition, with visible vintage wear from usage. Made in Spain.
