Design Plus Gallery presents an Antique Dresser by Thomasville Chair Company. Handcrafted before the 1910 name change to Thomasville Furniture, this gorgeous chest of drawers is magnificent. The woodgrain alone is stunning, the cast brass embellishments add elegance. The six drawers, top two have partitions, wear serpentine fronts that finish in a curved base. Light surface wear; condition is good for age and use.
“Thomasville Furniture’s history started in 1904 when a group of businessmen established a chair factory in Thomasville, North Carolina. The factory was named the Thomasville Chair Company, and its origins start in an old tobacco warehouse. Initially, the factory produced only chairs. As demand for quality furniture grew, the company expanded its product line to include tables, cabinets, and more. In 1910, the company was purchased by C.F. Finch, a local businessman, who renamed it the Thomasville Furniture Company. Under Finch’s leadership, the company expanded its product line even further. Thomasville started producing a wide range of high-quality pieces sold throughout the United States.”
