Design Plus Gallery presents a Korean Scholar’s Chest. Functionally the chest has three frieze drawers above twin cupboards and a lower hutch, with elaborate strap work, hinging and lobed backplates.The chest was used as a storage cabinet in the men’s study for books and manuscripts. It was known in Korean as a Ich’ung Ch’aek-Sang (two-level book chest). Is in good condition for its antique age + use.
