Design Plus Gallery presents a Pair of Yokeback Arm Chairs from the Mid 19th Century. They are elegantly constructed with a plain S-shaped plate that accentuates the figured pattern of huanghuali, crowned by a yoke with upturned rounded ends, the curved arms with shaped spandrels at the protruding ends, supported by S-shaped braces int he middle + posts that continue through the seat rail forming the front + back legs. The legs are joined by a foot-rail + stretchers of ascending heights, with a cusped + beaded apron at the front and plain aprons on either side. They have visible + minor wear that is consistent with their use and antique age.
