Design Plus Gallery presents the Afghan Mazar-E Sharif Persian Princess Bukhara. Princess Bukhara is the most sought after rug in Afghanistan. The name relates to the wondrous history Bukhara is known for. Bukhara is a city in Turkestan where the world’s best handicrafts were made. These Princess Bokhara is now only found in Afghanistan as most of the collections are in local houses and villages who have received these rugs through their ancestors. Princess Bukhara uses silk like wool, from the neck and ankle area of the sheep. The sheep reside in mountainous cold areas which ensures soft wool with sheen of silk. The knotting is as fine as a silk rug, however the wear and tear is unmatched. Princess Bukhara uses pomegranate and other fruits and vegetable dye, giving it a distinct look. In good condition, with minimal wear.
