Design Plus Gallery presents a Hamadan Carpet from Northern Persia, Likely Antique and from the 1920s. A “Hamadan Carpet” from North Persia (present-day Iran) refers to a hand-knotted rug produced in the Hamadan region, an ancient city and surrounding villages in Western Iran. Hamadan was a significant center for rug weaving and trade, and rugs from this region were known for their unique characteristics and durability. This rug was exclusively made with a wool pile and is of good quality with a foundation made of cotton, including both warp and weft threads. There is a central medallion that is small in size with floral in white with blue/red, the middle section is mostly ruby red with repeating florals all over. Single cream colored border of more embellishments and colors. The antique rug does have some rawness to the edges but very little other wear to note. In good condition for its antique age.
