1968 Demitri Gassoumis Portrait Limited Five Run Lithograph

Design Plus Gallery presents a Rare Lithograph from Artist Demitri Gassoumis from 1968. A portrait of his then wife, done to complete his Master’s Degree. Demitri was of Greek heritage and grew up in the Bay Area, California his entire childhood. After graduating he moved his family to Greece where he was one of their premier Bohemians in the scene of Hidra, a great artist community still exists to this day from their foundation. He went on to paint murals, portraits and do interior design projects in New York City with the avant garde likes of Andy Warhol and Robert Mapplethorpe. This portrait is rare, one of five that were created and has been displayed at the De Young Museum and the American Embassy in Athens, Greece. In good condition with wear that is consistent with age + use.
