American Empire Style Tiger Oak Wood Library Table

Design Plus Gallery presents a Tiger Oak Wood Library Table in the American Empire Style. Likely dating back to the 1920’s the library table is a variant of Neoclassicism, informed by ancient Greek and Roman aesthetics, along with British and French empire influences, and the influences of the nationalism and restraint that the U.S. was gripped by at the time. The table top is broad with a thick apron and proportionate to the base making it small in its footprint but sturdy in its weight. For its antique age the table is in good condition with some of the veneer pulling apart from the solid foundation.
