A Shiraz carpet is a type of Persian rug made in the villages around the city of Shiraz, in the Iranian province of Fars. The Shiraz weavers use an angular shaped bird motif depicting nightingales, symbolizing contentment and happiness. This one has the coloring of faded red, blues and creams with a ten fold border enveloping the inner medallions long associated with the details of Shiraz. Heavy wear and stains are present, recommendation for deep cleaning.
