The pair has ornate hardwood frames in a reddish-brown lacquered tone, shaped crest rails, arched back panels, scrolling arms, and curved recumbent seats. Mother-of-pearl inlay decorates the frames throughout, depicting birds, flowering branches, vases, foliate borders, and geometric motifs. The moon gazing form gives the chairs a dramatic sculptural profile, while the open scrollwork adds movement to the design. They are in good condition; visible and minimal wear from usage.
