Design Plus Gallery presents a Four Panel Asian Screen Divider. This Japanese folding screen, known as a byōbu, displays white chrysanthemums across a muted background with softly layered cloud forms and a hand-painted gold-tone border. The blooms are rendered in moriage, a raised decorative technique that gives the petals added dimension and texture. Chrysanthemums carry longstanding associations with autumn and the imperial family, and the byōbu form dates back centuries as a traditional folding screen type introduced in the 7th or 8th century. This four-panel example shows visible distress from age, including wear consistent with time and use. This is a discontinued model and is in good condition with visible and minimal wear from usage.
