Design Plus Gallery presents an Original Oil Painting by Nan S. Fowler (1927-2005). Fowler was commissioned by a fellow Sausalito resident to create this moody seascape that beckons a darkening, cloud filled sky on a still-calm shoreline. The artist used oil paint on masonite (a hardwood enjoyed by artists for medium size paintings) and is framed with a black with gold speckled wood. Signed and dated 1964 by the artist. Light surface wear; condition is good. Made in USA.
“Fowler moved to Carmel, California with her family in 1935 and later, after high school, studied at the California School of Fine Art in San Francisco. She moved to Sausalito, California around 1955 and began a serious period of painting in oil, casein and tempera.
