Design Plus Gallery presents an Antique Wool Spinning Wheel, handmade by Elizur Spencer, born 1779 in New Hartford, Connecticut. A large wheeled spinning wheel designed to be operated while standing, also known as a Great Wheel or Walking Wheel. Three turned pointed legs, the spokes and hub of the large flat rimmed wheel and the ‘mother of all’ and ‘maidens’ are all made of ash. Artist markings are visible on bench. Good antique condition, rare find.
