Design Plus Gallery presents a Les Quadrille Lithograph by Louis Abel-Trucet (French, 1957-1918) 1900. The engaging color lithograph presents an interesting perpective of the cancan from behind the dancers. We feel the swirl of white petticoats, and the energy of this French classic. The title “Les Quadrille” goes back to the name of the original dance for four couples from which the cancan evolved. Signed on lower right, monogram for Eugene Verne lower left. Double matted and framed in beveled gilt wood under glass.

“Truchet was primarily a painter, but he also mastered the techniques of illustration, etching, and lithography and produced a few posters of undoubted merit.”
